Fabric requirements:
If you are making every day trunks, use medium weight knits like cotton jersey, Modal or bamboo with good elastic recovery (aka some spandex).
If you’d like to make quick dry athletic trunks for warm weather hiking, paddling or over night trips, use a good quality medium weight moisture wicking knit fabric (make sure it has good elastic recovery) in polyester or other synthetic fabric.
For a ‘warm when wet’ pair of trunks for sweaty cold weather hiking, paddling or skiing, use a knit medium weight merino.
