The SCHMETZ Leather sewing machine needle has a left twist cutting point. The cutting point easily penetrates leather. Remember once the stitch is created, the thread can be removed, but the stitch hole will remain.
Schmetz needles use a dual numbering system to indicate their size.
The first number (e.g., 70, 80) is the European or metric size, (diameter in hundredths of a millimeter; a 70/10 needle has a diameter of 0.7mm) while the second number (e.g., 10, 12) is the corresponding US or ‘Singer’ size.
Smaller numbers indicate finer needles, and larger numbers indicate thicker needles.
Schmetz needles also use color bands to further indicate needle type (top band) and size (bottom band)
130/705 H is the needle system used by nearly all home sewing machines. 130/705 refers to a needle with a flat shank. The H refers to a German word, Hohlkehle, that translates to scarf. So 130/705 H is a flat shank needle with a scarf. All brands of home sewing machines use system 130/705 H - Baby Lock, Bernina, Brother, Elna, Husqvarna Viking, Janome, Juki, Pfaff, White, and more.
