A marvellous oversized tote bag kit in vivid yellow (as shown in the last photo) with pattern variations to re-make it later with either webbing, self or leather handles. This kit contains everything you need to make an unlined Orton Bag in vivid yellow oilskin fabric and brown leather handles with silver rivets. There are separate patterns, depending on whether you want to make the bag lined or unlined. If you would like to make a lining for your bag, you will need to buy 1M of fabric for the lining separately.

How to Sew an Orton Bag Video (FREE)

Please Note: This kit contains the materials you need to make a yellow oilskin Orton Bag with leather handles, including the paper pattern. You will need access to a leather hole punch to install the rivets. You can find these on our site or at a local shoe makers shop.

The oilskin in this kit is drier and crisper than our other oilskins with a matte appearance. Unlike normal oilskin there would be no oil transfer, so you don't need to line your garment or bag.

This type of oilskin is water resistant, so this means that the water doesn’t completely run off it, but it won't come through to the other side either.

  • 7.2oz, 245gsm.

  • GOTS certified organic cotton.

  • Fluorocarbon free.

  • Country of origin; UK.

  • Inspired by a 1910 patent for waterproofing textiles. It is treated with an emulsified wax which is heat-processed into the cloth for a longer lasting finish and higher performance. The finish is vegan.

  • This material can be washed by hand, but it would need re-proofing and the surface does change, so it is best to avoid any washing if you can.

  • Cool setting iron or just finger press.

  • Do not use any interfacing with this type of oilskin.
