For day wear, use light to medium trouser weight wovens such as twill, corduroy, wool blends, denim and gabardine.
If you’d like to make quick dry athletic pants for warm weather hiking, use a good quality light or medium weight moisture wicking woven technical fabric in polyester or other synthetic fibre.
For water resistant pants, use nylon ripstop and seam seal tape.
For a winter pair of pants, use a heavier or fleece backed fabric.
